Did the sound actually reach the wet output?

Play familiar audio and disconnect Bluetooth, AirPlay, headphones and car audio. Compare music, speakerphone and a call at your ear. A generic sound often follows the bottom media route; it may not target the top receiver.

If ordinary audio is silent, troubleshoot volume, routing and system sound before using another water-eject file. A silent speaker cannot produce useful diaphragm movement.

Were volume and position appropriate?

Remove the case, wipe the exterior and point the affected opening downward over a lint-free cloth. Use a strong but comfortable volume. Very low volume may create little movement; maximum volume can add distortion and stress.

Run one complete sequence rather than tapping several unrelated videos. Wipe away droplets and allow airflow before judging the result.

Does the phone simply need more drying time?

A sound can move accessible droplets without removing all moisture from the cavity. Apple notes that speaker performance may remain degraded until water evaporates. Compare the same audio later at the same volume.

Do not run the sequence every few minutes. Repetition is useful only when the speaker is functional and the result is clearly improving.

Could the opening be blocked?

Dirty water can leave particles, and a phone may already have lint around the grille. Once the phone is dry, inspect the affected opening under good light. Remove any case or film that overlaps it.

Was the liquid contaminated?

Salt water, pool water, milk, coffee, soda, soap and dirty water can leave residue. A tone may briefly improve movement while the residue remains. More sound does not remove salt, sugar, oil or dirt.

Follow Apple’s device-care guidance for non-water liquids and use a lower threshold for service when contamination or submersion is involved.

Does the pattern suggest damage?

No sound, severe mechanical crackling, unchanged distortion after drying, recurring symptoms or additional charging, display, heat, camera or power problems all move the incident beyond a wet-speaker tool.

At that point, stop changing frequency and volume. Document the exposure and seek appropriate service advice. A failed sound is useful information when it leads to the correct next step.
